Meet Ben Kemp
Contract Renewal Tracker was founded by Ben Kemp, an IT professional, consultant, software builder, and digital entrepreneur with approximately 40 years of experience in information technology.
Over the course of his career, Ben has worked across technical engineering, software development, IT operations, project leadership, consulting, infrastructure, and technology-focused sales and marketing. That experience has provided a practical view of how organizations manage technology, suppliers, budgets, business processes, and the contracts that connect them.
Contract Renewal Tracker grew from a straightforward observation: contract renewals are often treated as administrative deadlines when they should be managed as business decisions.

Why Contract Renewal Tracker Was Created
Many organizations have dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of active agreements covering software, cloud services, telecommunications, professional services, facilities, equipment, suppliers, maintenance, and other business-critical services.
Yet the information needed to manage those contracts is frequently fragmented across spreadsheets, shared drives, inboxes, calendars, procurement systems, finance systems, and individual employees.
That creates a simple but expensive problem.
A contract may have a renewal date in six months but require cancellation notice 90 days beforehand. If nobody identifies that notice deadline in time, the organization may lose its opportunity to renegotiate or terminate the agreement.
Contract Renewal Tracker was created to make those deadlines—and the decisions behind them—visible much earlier.
From Contract Tracking to Renewal Intelligence
The goal is not simply to build another repository where companies can store contracts.
Contract Renewal Tracker is being developed around the renewal decision.
For every important agreement, organizations should be able to answer questions such as:
- When does the contract renew?
- What is the notice deadline?
- Does it automatically renew?
- How much are we spending?
- Who owns the contract?
- Is the supplier performing?
- Are we still using what we are paying for?
- Are there duplicate or overlapping suppliers?
- What risks or obligations should we consider?
- Should we renew, renegotiate, consolidate, replace, or terminate?
- What savings could we capture?
- Who needs to approve the decision?
Bringing this information together turns contract renewal management from deadline administration into a repeatable business process.
Built Around Real Business Teams
Contract renewals rarely belong to a single department.
Procurement may manage the supplier relationship. Finance understands the financial commitment. Legal evaluates contractual rights and risks. IT understands technology dependencies and software usage. Operations understands service performance. Business owners ultimately know whether the contract continues to deliver value.
Contract Renewal Tracker is therefore being designed around cross-functional renewal management, giving these stakeholders a shared view of upcoming decisions, responsibilities, risks, and opportunities.
A Practical Approach to Software
Ben’s approach to Contract Renewal Tracker is deliberately practical.
The objective is to make sophisticated contract renewal management accessible without requiring every organization to implement a large and complex enterprise Contract Lifecycle Management platform.
The platform is being developed around capabilities such as centralized contract tracking, automated renewal reminders, notice-period management, auto-renewal visibility, renewal workflows, supplier intelligence, spend analysis, risk identification, document analysis, dashboards, and AI-assisted renewal decisions.
The underlying principle remains simple:
Give organizations enough information—and enough time—to make a deliberate decision before a contract makes the decision for them.
Sharing the Knowledge Along the Way
ContractRenewalTracker.com is also intended to become a comprehensive educational resource for professionals responsible for contracts and supplier relationships.
The website covers contract renewal management, renewal tracking, supplier management, software and SaaS contracts, procurement, spend management, renewal forecasting, negotiation, governance, risk, audit controls, M&A contract consolidation, and related topics.
These resources are designed for procurement professionals, CFOs and finance teams, legal teams, IT leaders, operations teams, vendor managers, business owners, small businesses, and anyone responsible for preventing contracts from becoming forgotten commitments.
Building Contract Renewal Tracker
Contract Renewal Tracker is being built as a focused SaaS platform rather than as a generic contract-management system.
The long-term vision is to create a contract renewal intelligence platform that helps organizations move progressively from:
Tracking → Alerts → Decisions → Optimization → Intelligence
Instead of simply telling users that a contract expires soon, the platform should increasingly help answer the more valuable question:
What should we do about it?
About Ben Kemp
Ben brings approximately four decades of technology experience to the project, spanning multiple generations of enterprise IT and software development.
Contract Renewal Tracker combines that technical background with a practical interest in solving a business problem that exists in organizations of almost every size: maintaining control over contractual commitments before renewal deadlines remove valuable options.
The mission behind the project is straightforward:
Never let an important contract renew simply because nobody acted in time.
